Each person should have at least a gallon of water for a three day period.

Each person should get a three day supply of food that does not spoil fast. Have a good amount of canned food, whole grain cereal, dried fruits, and canned juice.

Clothes

Make sure for each person to have two complete changes of clothes. If you live where it is colder you should think about warm clothes like long sleeves-shirt, long pants, comfortable shoes, a jacket, undergarments, socks, hats, gloves, and scarfs. If it is possible bring blankets or a sleeping bag for each person.

You should keep a flashlight by your bed at all times and have extra batteries. It is not recommend for someone to use matches after an earthquake because there could be gas leaks.

It would be essential for you to have a portable radio because that is how you would get most of your information. Due to the phones being out of service or being used for emergency reasons.

It is very important to be prepared for any natural disaster at all times.  Below are tips to help you prepare for an earthquake ahead of time.  It is recommended for a house hold to have their emergancy supplies where it is easy for everyone to reach it.
